Grantee Franklin County Sheriff's Office in Massachusetts contacted COSSUP for TTA. The request detailed the need for a second in-person support to hold a 1-2 day meeting with members of their CONNECT deflection team. They wanted to convene the group to create shared agreements to address the complex intersection of law enforcement, child welfare, and peer recovery in our post-opioid overdose response.

Grantee Franklin County Sheriff's Office in Massachusetts contacted COSSUP for TTA: "We are in the process of updating CONNECT's Operations Manual or Operating Guidelines. They have not been updated since July 2021. We are looking for best practices or examples from other BJA COSSUP grantees from rural areas as we proceed. We'd like to explore organizing the "manual" using the Critical Elements of Deflection as a guide.

The Oneida County Health Department in Wisconsin is working with law enforcement to develop a response to substance use in their community. The TA request was seeking assistance in creating a specialized training series focused on developing skills among law enforcement and public safety members who conduct deflection and outreach to increase the program’s effectiveness. Ideally, building a sustainable series of recorded trainings from existing and/or created resources.

Grantee Franklin County Sheriff's Office in Massachusetts contacted COSSUP for TTA. Prior to an onsite visit, CHJ conducted 15 one-hour interviews with 20 individuals from the Franklin County/North Quabbin CONNECT deflection team.

As part of CHJ's intensive TTA, individual calls will be scheduled with new FY22 grantees. Initial introductory calls included discussion about: the grantees project and deflection initiative; identifying top priorities the grantee have for their program over the next 3-6 months; and discussion to determine at what level of readiness is the grantee’s program currently at to implement these priorities.
