During the reporting period, IIR conducted planning, logistical support, and coordination for participants from PSP sites Jackson, Milwaukee, and St. Louis to attend the International Homicide Investigators Association (IHIA) Basic Homicide Investigators Course on May 21-25, 2018, in Springfield, Massachusetts. Topics addressed included the role and responsibilities of the homicide investigator, first responder, and coroner/medical examiner, as well as the role of investigative resources, techniques, and crime scene analysis.

The Lansing MI Police Dept. is requesting training for their officers/dispatchers and some other civilian staff/department heads. The two 2-day Blue Courage Courses are intended to train and educate the command staff of the department. Blue Courage is a synergistic blend of education, principles, practices, skills, and tools that go beyond the classroom environment to foster a culture of leadership, character, nobility and service. Blue Courage focuses on both training to develop officer safety skills and education to enhance mindfulness and deepen awareness, intention and self-control.

In May 2013, the Bureau of Justice (BJA), in partnership with the CNA Corporation, developed Managing Large-Scale Security Events: A Planning Primer for Local Law Enforcement Agencies (Planning Primer) to help guide local governments as they prepare for large-scale security events. BJA requested assistance in updating the Planning Primer based on the planning of the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio on July 18 - 21, 2016 and the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 25 - 28, 2016.

We are requesting an All Access Pass (AAP) with FranklinCovey. The AAP will also include specific facilitator certification in 7 Habits for Highly Successful People (or Managers or Law Enforcement), Trust Foundations (or Leading at The Speed of Trust or Policing at The Speed of Trust). The facilitator certifications will include agency personnel as well as community partners. The community partners will receive physical materials only and will not have access to the AAP.
