On September 14, 2023, a SLATT SME delivered in-person training to attendees at the Montana U.S. Attorney’s Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council (ATAC) Annual Conference, hosted in Helena, Montana. The training consisted of a presentation titled, Elmer Stewart Rhodes, III and Oath Keepers 2009 – 2022: The Rise and Fall of the Modern Militia Movement 2.0 and included an overview of the history of Elmer Stewart Rhodes, III; the Oath Keepers organization; and the investigation and prosecution of Oath Keepers members for their actions on January 6, 2021.

On September 12, 2023, a member of the SLATT team and two subject-matter experts (SMEs) delivered in-person training to members of the United States (U.S.) Customs and Border (CBP) Protection, Credibility Assessment Division, hosted at the CBP office located in New Orleans, Louisiana. The training consisted of four presentations titled, Domestic Terrorism Overview; International Terrorism Overview; Foreign Espionage and Foreign Malign Influence; and SLATT Program Overview, focused on SLATT resources and membership information for www.slatt.org.

On September 6, 2023, the SLATT team hosted an advisory board meeting with four members who will not serve on the newly formed BJA advisory board. The four individuals were provided with an overview of recent SLATT deliveries, upcoming events, new resources, and the new curriculum development strategy. All members expressed support for the direction of the SLATT Program and indicated that they will continue to provide consultative support to the program.

The process for creating SLATT accounts resulted in the creation of 54 new user accounts in September 2023.

In September 2023, the SLATT team addressed approximately 13 inquiries received from users submitting questions or requests using the “Contact Us” button on the slatt.org website. Inquiries related to SLATT training, resources, webinars, publications, login issues, website access, and general questions.

On August 11, 2023, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Director Karhlton Moore and BJA Senior Policy Advisor David Lewis visited the Middle Atlantic-Great Lakes Organized Crime Law Enforcement Network (MAGLOCLEN), Regional Information Sharing Systems (RISS) Center, in Newtown, Pennsylvania, and the Regional Operations Intelligence Center (ROIC) fusion center, in Ewing Township, New Jersey. A member of the SLATT team, who is a retired New Jersey State Police (NJSP) officer, accompanied BJA leadership and participated in executive level briefings.

The process for creating SLATT accounts resulted in the creation of 61 new user accounts in August 2023.

The SLATT monthly partner planning meeting was held on August 3, 2023 (at 2-2:30 pm ET). Monthly meetings are convened to discuss current initiatives and progress toward completing SLATT tasks.

Members of the SLATT team met virtually with members of the Department of Justice, National Security Division (NSD), Counterterrorism Section, and a subject matter expert at the University of Kansas, School of Law, to discuss opportunities to collaborate on a number of strategic initiatives.
