Objective 1:Â Individualized Technical Assistance to Grantees In April, CSG Justice Center staff continued to meet with WADOC to discuss programmatic work. WADOC reported the removal of the director of Spokane Regional Domestic Violence Center, the agency proposing the legislation. WADOC and CSG Justice Center staff are actively discussing contingency plans for WADOC to propose the legislation in the instance that Spokane Regional cannot. In their review of the reentry process, WADOC identified needs of participants that must be established before their release.

"Objective 1: Individualized Technical Assistance to Grantees In March, WADOC reported that the legislation proposal that they plan to present during the January 2025 legislative session is progressing slowly. WADOC is discussing whether the statewide court, where the proposal will be implemented, is permitted to oversee felony-based charges. WADOC reported that the Spokane Regional Domestic Violence Center timeline for the legislative proposal is pending closure of another grant program with a deadline of June 2024.

Objective 2: Technology Development Technical Assistance On March 13, Recidiviz and CSG Justice Center staff sent BJA a proposal and budget narrative/justification. The following week, feedback was received and integrated.

Objective 2: Technology Development Technical Assistance  In February, Recidiviz met with technical subject matter experts within the WA DOC data division to better probe the parameters available for model building as well as to better understand the supervision data that would be available for analysis. The proposal and budget narrative/justification have been updated to reflect both WADOC’s feedback on the initial proposal as well as updated technical details and more accurate frames of the work to be completed based on these additional conversations.

Objective 2: Technology Development Technical Assistance In January, Recidiviz finalized the WADOC proposal and budget for BJA and shared it with BJA for approval. Additionally, Recidiviz and CSG Justice Center staff discussed staffing for the project with WADOC. Recidiviz and CSG Justice Center staff received feedback from BJA on the SOW and held a call with WADOC to discuss revisions and adjustments.

Objective 1: Individualized Technical Assistance to Grantees In February, CSG Justice Center staff learned that WADOC is still working on implementing the community-based program and addressing problems as they arise. The biggest issues currently are the release process, coordination, and resources for participants being paroled from DOCs.

"Objective 1: Individualized Technical Assistance to Grantees In January, CSG Justice Center staff learned that WADOC continues to push for the formation of the domestic violence court and is meeting with the Domestic Violence Advocate agency and the Attorney General’s Office to further push for its formation. In addition, WADOC reported changes regarding partnering with one housing vendor. The legal department had concerns regarding the liability of the home housing program, so they decided to utilize the current process within DOC for housing vendors.
