Due to the growth and changing demographics of our municipality - as well as the relatively inexperienced tenure of our supervisors and managers - the Tempe Police Department has recognized a great need to increase the amount of leadership and supervisory training provided to the current and future leaders of our organization.

There are now two dedicated ICIS trainers whose primary resposnsibility is to train staff in four ICIS endorsed curricula: LSI-R, MI, COG/CBT, and CCW (Collaborative Casework). Assistance is needed to provide a T4T in the LSI-R and CCW for these two trainers. T4T's in MI and COG are being provided in house. There is additionally and currently a training cadre for ICIS to provide training to staff in the four curricula although workload is a great challenge as the training cadre consists of existing staff with other primary duties and responsibilities and not dedicated trainers.

Our agency is representing this training request for the law enforcement agencies within our regional association, which includes three counties on the western border of Arizona (Mohave, LaPaz, and Yuma Counties). We would like to host this training for multiple agencies (approx. 20) as we are the central location for our regional academy and association. We would like NTTAC's assistance in providing the training "Blue Courage" to all of our officers over a multiple day format to allow our agencies to cycle our officers through the program.

The Ohio Parole Board has discretionary releasing authority over a portion of the prison population that is comprised of offenders serving sentences for the most serious crimes. Specifically, approximately 50% of the offenders heard are convicted of a Homicide offense including Aggravated Murder, Murder and Manslaughter. Another 30% of those offenders heard by the Board are convicted of a sex offense. In it release decision making, the Board utilizes a risk instrument (ORAS) that is predictive of the general risk of an offender to reoffend.
