Our New Orleans Task Force has been updated with new members (for the new prostitution diversion program that we will be implementing soon under the Racial Justice Improvement Project). The following critical members have been added: Henry Dean from New Orleans Police Department, Mark Burton and Ginger Miller from the DA’s Office and Charlene Larche-Mason from the City Attorney’s Office.

During the past Legislative Session, the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles (BPP) was required to keep the Estimated Approval Rates (EAR) on each category relative to the risk level noted on the matrix as public information. During one of the parole guidelines' revisions, the estimated approval rates were inadvertently left in place on a public document.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is seeking the assistance of the National Training and Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC) in procuring four SMCOV Inclusive Leadership Courses.

The Inclusive Leadership Courses are being sought to provide a comprehensive leadership training regimen for command level employees within our agency. It is intended to develop agency leaders in formulating and sustaining community outreach programs. The program strengths will complement the Blue Courage training program currently being instructed agency wide.

The Osborne Association will receive TA in a community planning process during the transformation of 1511 Fulton Avenue from a prison into a reentry facility. This assistance will allow the Osborne Association to engage community members in the planning of programs and services, collect data on neighborhood needs
and assets, and develop partnerships with local community organizations.

The Ohio Parole Board has discretionary releasing authority over a portion of the prison population that is comprised of offenders serving sentences for the most serious crimes. Specifically, approximately 50% of the offenders heard are convicted of a Homicide offense including Aggravated Murder, Murder and Manslaughter. Another 30% of those offenders heard by the Board are convicted of a sex offense. In it release decision making, the Board utilizes a risk instrument (ORAS) that is predictive of the general risk of an offender to reoffend.

Our program was recently featured in Miami by the Center for Court Innovation (contacts - Julius Lang and Rebecca Thomford Hauser) as one of 10 criminal justice innovation projects worth replicating nationwide. Operational for 4 years, we are currently having internal conversations about the level and delivery of accountability for our chosen repeat felony domestic violence offender population. Denise O'Donnell spoke in Miami about the HOPE probation program, led by Judge Alm, out of Hawaii.

As the Luzerne County "kids for cash" scandal demonstrated, Pennsylvania's county funded indigent defense delivery system is failing to meet the needs of their communites and the requirements of 21st century effective legal assistance of counsel. Pennsylvania remains the ONLY STATE that provides NO general fund appropriations to support U.S. Supreme Court mandated legal representation services for adults and children facing loss of liberty.

San Mateo County Alcohol and Other Drug Services has not provided an Adolescent ASI training for the last 10 years to our contracted treatment providers and AOD staff due to lack of resources and finding a certified trainer to provide the training. Due to high turn over and new staff at our treatment providers, there are a lot of staff that has not received this training.
