Our New Orleans Task Force has been updated with new members (for the new prostitution diversion program that we will be implementing soon under the Racial Justice Improvement Project). The following critical members have been added: Henry Dean from New Orleans Police Department, Mark Burton and Ginger Miller from the DA’s Office and Charlene Larche-Mason from the City Attorney’s Office. All of their respective offices’ participation in the Task Force is necessary to establish and implement the prostitution diversion program in New Orleans that is consistent with our project deliverables as provided to BJA under our grant for the Racial Justice Improvement Project.
Given the new members unfamiliarity with prostitution diversion programs, we are planning to conduct a site visit to the prostitution diversion program in either Detroit, Michigan or New York, New York. New Orleans does not want to exhaust their current grant funding on these travel expenses, and we did not earmark additional funds from the grant for this travel expense. This is technical training and BJA did (through Fox Valley) fund this technical trianing for our previous task force members two years ago. We are aiming to go on the site visits in March of 2014.
