I am writing in regards to training for David Kennedy's Drug Market Intervention training for my city. I am a Councilmember for the city of Anniston (David E. Reddick) and I would like to bring the District Attorney for Calhoun County (Brian McVaigh) a community organizer (Vince Williams) and my new drug taskforce head (Allen George). I am interested in this small group attending training so that it can be implemented in the City of Anniston
BJA will commission a White Paper on risk assessment use in state and local sentencing decision making. The final report will be a critical tool to expand BJA's knowledge of how risk information is used, and may impact future BJA funding priorities and strategies.
BJA will identify a provider to facilitate JRI peer-to-peer technical assistance events. Similar events were held in February 2015 to share ideas, resources, and tools from sites involved in JRI efforts. This TA will expand those events to more sites involved in JRI activity.
The workshop will present information on the potential of using data gathered through a state’s BJA-sponsored Harold Rogers Prescription Drug Monitoring Program to combat communities’ struggles with opioid use. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about existing partnerships in Maryland between law enforcement and the parole and probation community. These partnerships have allowed for collaboration and discussion around the results of substance abuse testing, and the relationships between releases and community services related to substance abuse and mental health.
I would like my staff of 50 Instructors trained in the Blue Courage program.
The city has areas that are run down and unkempt resulting in community blight that is unattractive to homeowners and businesses. There are a large number (some 8000) abandoned buildings, although the city has started a demolition effort. Much of the housing stock is rental property providing no incentive for maintaining the property and we've seen limited landlord engagement to keep the properties up. Gary has seen a drop in population over the last decade, resulting in fewer jobs and businesses. This has led to buildings being abandoned and allowed to deteriorate.
My police unit is part of a much larger collaborative effort called the Kansas City No Violence Alliance. Kansascitynova.org... We are currently working to implement a Byrne Grant project in a very violent corridor of our city's urban core. Four officers and myself will be working in this corridor with community based organizations to implement a focused deterrence policing strategy and to apply CPTED principles to a commercial corridor revitalization effort.
Dane County, Wisconsin ranks as the nation's highest county in racial disparities in the criminal justice system. Our pre-trial services need to learn best practices to facilitate a reduction in racial disparities and earlier resolution of cases.
We would like an expert, Dr. Stacey Patton, to attend a conference that will be held on June 10 and June 11, 2014 at Madison WI. This conference is regarding corporal punishment, and has the objective of educating key stakeholders in Dane County before commencing reform in the subject area. We are asking for travel assistance.
