NCJA was asked by the Matt Perkins of the LISC Community Safety Initiative (Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation Program) to participate in a webinar for BJCI grantees to assist them with resources for sustainability. The webinar was designed to inform the programs about the SAA in every state and the policy and funding resources that are available through those offices. Carol Poole, NCJA Senior Policy Adviser and Bill Scollon, SAA in Tennessee, presented information and answered questions from participants.

The NCCPA asked NCPC to support with materials its 2015 annual training conference November 16-19, 2015 in Carolina Beach, NC. Although there is not a theme for the conference their focus will be on "refuse to be a victim."

FOP 2015 National Conference to take place in Pittsburgh, PA August 9-13, 2015. This conference is expecting over 140 exhibitors, members and guests. NCPC was asked to exhibit at this conference. Since this is our target audience for this grant, this conference was the perfect opportunity to connect with law enforcement officers.

LISC fielded emails and conducted teleconferences with potential applicants pursuing BCJI funding in FY2015 and helped organize a bidders’ webinar in March 2015 and developed FAQs in April.

LISC manages the BCJI Basecamp page where over 50 resources have been shared and dozens of threads have been generated by LISC staff, BCJI sites, and partners around various areas of the program.

Active community leadership is often the lynchpin for achieving and sustaining safety and revitalization gains. In high crime neighborhoods, engaging community members in developing and implementing projects that reduce crime and improve quality of life is particularly important. Join LISC and leaders from BJA’s Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation Program (BCJI) for a conversation on the fundamentals of meaningful community engagement and approaches to involving residents in decision-making about crime reduction strategies and broader efforts to improve neighborhoods.
