The LELCoP hosted a roundtable event on the correlation between traffic stops and violent crime levels. Lead Subject Matter Expert for the LELCoP, Chief (Retired) Sylvia Moir moderated the discussion and PSP site leaders discussed their successes and challenges with traffic stops, and summarized the trends/patterns they are observing in their communities regarding traffic stops and levels of violent crime.

The objective of this webinar to is provide federal, state, and local task force members and leaders operational, and policy guidance on issues unique to multijurisdictional law enforcement task forces: identifying and managing risk by understanding key constitutional requirements; building public trust by ensuring ethical actions; and implementing accountability by limiting liability. The panel of presenters included subject matter experts Mr. Arif Alikhan, President and Chief Legal Counsel for TacLogix, Inc.

We are in the process of developing an implicit bias course, and would like to build more courses focused on procedural justice, communication, de-escalation , community policing and other modern policing strategies and techniques. I am also attempting to build training to improve officer safety, mental health, and leadership at all levels of the police community.

On Wednesday, February 26, 2020 from 2:00 to 3:30 PM EST, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), in collaboration with AEquitas, hosted a webinar for Enhanced Collaborative Model (ECM) human trafficking task forces on responding to sex trafficking of men and boys. This webinar provided human trafficking task forces with strategies to better identify male victims of sex trafficking, implement specific trauma-informed responses, and effectively collect evidence and interview victims leading to successful prosecutions.

IACP will develop and conduct a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis to identify TTA needs for each task force. The SWOT analysis will be conducted using electronic surveying and phone interviews. Based on the outcome of the assessments, in consultation with BJA, IACP will develop/enhance/refine training for delivery to the ECM task forces.

Bureau of Justice Assistance requested travel support for representatives to attend the 2019 National Criminal Justice Association (NCJA) Forum. BJA NTTAC provided travel support for four representatives to attend the 2019 NCJA Forum from September 16-18, 2019 in Arlington, Virginia.
