CSG Justice Center presented presented at the National District Attorney's Association. Because of the size of the audience the presentation was delivered as a roundtable discussion.

We conducted a virtual site visit with the Bexar County, TX, grant team to learn more about changes being made statewide to the competency process that impact the Bexar County team’s implementation. We discussed strategies for addressing challenges; engaged the grant partners and other providers in a discussion about the progress of their Jail-Based Restoration (JBCR) Program and provided feedback on the program after one year in operation; and engaged with a peer site operating a competency restoration program to discuss key components/strategies for a successful restoration unit.

Minnesota Tribal Intergovernmental Reentry Workshop (TIRW) - The TIRW is for tribes who have, or are interested in having, a reentry program to serve tribal members returning to the community from federal, state, or tribal correctional facilities. This TIRW is designed to provide participants with the tools to develop effective reentry plans based on sharing operational, organizational, and culture-based concepts and processes that identify critical services and interventions needed to reduce recidivism and victimization within Minnesota.

WORKSHOP # 2 - Incorporating Cultural and Traditional Practices to Improve Reentry Outcomes. This workshop provided information on reentry programs that have incorporated traditional healing practices into their reentyr programs, discussed the benefits of developing a cultural component to reentry programs, identified additional traditional and cultural practices to be included in reentry programs, and discussed the ability to adapt traditional practices to meet the needs of other tribal reentry programs.

WORKSHOP– Understanding Your Clients: A Discussion on Working with Native American Clients in a Reentry Program. This presentation is based on part 3 of the Reentry Toolkit developed as part of this funding opportunity. This workshop focused on engaging the client in the reentry program by providing information to enhance the attends’ knowledge and skill set to successfully engage clients in their reentry programs.
