Minnesota Tribal Intergovernmental Reentry Workshop (TIRW) - The TIRW is for tribes who have, or are interested in having, a reentry program to serve tribal members returning to the community from federal, state, or tribal correctional facilities. This TIRW is designed to provide participants with the tools to develop effective reentry plans based on sharing operational, organizational, and culture-based concepts and processes that identify critical services and interventions needed to reduce recidivism and victimization within Minnesota. The planning process for the MN TIRW began November 2023 when APPA and BJA released a national call for applications to host a TIRW event in 2024. APPA received six (7) applications representing six (60 states, including two (2) from the State of Minnesota. APPA and BJA selected Minnesota to host the TIRW event based on the scoring matrix used to review the applications and the two (2) applications from Minnesota receiving the highest scores. The Lower Sioux Indian Community and Milles Lacs Band of Ojibwe Tribes were selected as the co-hosts for this event. APPA, BJA, Minnesota DOC, and the host tribes have meet bi-weekly since January 2024 to engage in the planning process.
