At the request of BJA, a member of the SLATT team participated in the National Fusion Center Association Annual Training Event in April 2022 in Alexandria, Virginia. The team member attended the Director’s Day meeting on April 11 and discussed the SLATT Program with several attendees.

Provide scholarship funding totaling $32, 000 to defense practitioners.
January-June 2022: Provided Scholarship funding for 15 attendees for the ABA-SCLAID virtual conference, April 21-22, 2022 that focused on managed assigned counsel programs. Total scholarship amount was $750.00.

This virtual convening, hosted by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) through COSSAP, will focus on tackling one of the most critical challenges of our time: putting an end to America’s opioid, stimulant, and substance misuse. The virtual setting will offer the feel of an in-person event, allowing participants to connect directly with colleagues to hear from federal experts, discuss relevant issues and trends, share ideas, exchange resources, and gain new skills to improve programs.

NW3C plans to send three staff to the National Native American Law Enforcement Association 28th Annual Conference. This conference is three days of intensive training on the major issues facing Indian Country for law enforcement, emergency management, emergency services, natural resource and environmental protection professionals. NW3C staff will attend, establish a booth for BJA/NW3C, and conduct three presentations.

The Anchorage, Alaska Police Department, as part of the Anchorage Public Safety Partnership Site, requested funding for registration for the International Association of Crime Analysts online training courses. BJA NTTAC provided funding support for one representative to attend the IACA online training course starting in July 2021 and ending in September 2021.

During January and February of 2021, IIR coordinated with stakeholders from the Boston Regional Intelligence Center and the New York Police Department to adjudicate the final round of input on the Best Practices Resource Guide for the CAD/SAR Query Process. On March 12, 2021, this guide was submitted to the DHS National Threat Evaluation Reporting Program Office for review and approval, as well as guidance on next steps involving input and standardization recommendations from the IJIS Institute.

In early January 2021, IIR provided support to the NFCA P/CL Subcommittee by assisting with the development and implementation of a data call focusing on P/CL officer experience on the job, training in the area of P/CRCL, status of updates to the P/CRCL policy and adoption of technology related policies, and identification of priorities in the area of P/CRCL protection. This was an after-action item resulting from the NFCA Virtual Conference, held on December 9 and 16, 2020.

During this reporting period, IIR continued engagement with and participation from NTER program representatives in support of the development of the CAD/SAR query guide. Between March and June 2021, there was a delay on this project because of changes in DHS NTER staffing. However, activity resumed on June 24, 2021 with a conference call with DHS and next steps approved.
