Two North Charleston, South Carolina attendees attended a peer exchange to visit the Camden, New Jersey Police Department (CCPD). The CCPD provided a history of its department, discussing how the Camden Police Department was dissolved and the CCPD took over all police operations for the city. The CCPD discussed its use-of-force policy, including its seven guiding principles. Much focus was placed on de-escalation, including the CCPD’s agencywide training on its Critical Decision-Making (CDM) model and Integrating Communications Assessments and Tactics (ICAT) Course.

During this three-day peer exchange, three Aurora Police Department personnel visited the Baltimore Police Department (BPD). The primary focus of this exchange was how to leverage crime analysis and technology to support consent decree compliance.

The Boston (MA) Police Department requested a connection be made between them and the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), an organization that the IACP has partnered with. The goal of this connection is to gain insight from RILA on Boston PD's Safe Shopping Initiative, an initiative created by Boston PD, Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, and several private sector partners within the City of Boston to address various critical concerns related to safety and security in retail environments.

The Boston (MA) Police Department and the Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement's (MONSE) Coordinated Neighborhood Stabilization Response (CNSR) program in Baltimore (MD) had a virtual peer exchange. Boston PD was looking for resources programs to learn from on trauma-informed follow-up and neighborhood stabilization following a multi-agency operation that led to dozens of arrests in one apartment complex.

The Amarillo, Texas Police Department (APD) hosted six PSP site attendees for a 1-day peer exchange. Common themes included how the APD staffs its real-time crime center (which the APD calls the Amarillo Regional Crime Center, or ARCC), the ARCC’s core functions, and how the ARCC relates to other processes, such as traditional crime analysis.

Introductory meeting between EJUSA staff and BCSL sub recepeints, where the subgrantee cohort could be introduced to EJUSA, each other, and the full suite of TTA activities and benefits associated with the BCSL subgrant award.

Virtual meeting to discuss project goals and evaluation. Grantee is transitioning to a new evaluator and requested assistance in transition best practices and strategic planning to develop evaluation processes.

November 26, 2024: Met with Jess to discuss progress of dataset, and work generally. She showed me her new data in excel and went over some fixes. She is now interested in getting assistance with applying for a new COSSUP grant in March. We will meet next month to discuss.
