NW3C will send two staff to attend the Utah Valley University Conference and present a six hour discussion on "Advance Digital Evidence". The presentation is described as the identification and extraction of artifacts. Topics include the change journal, BitLocker, and a detailed examination of various artifacts found in each of the registry hive ?les. Attendees examine event logs, volume shadow copies, link files, and jump lists. It also discusses admissibility requirements and explain what steps need to be taken to ensure digital evidence can be introduced and effectively.

NW3C will send staff Tom Nash to present, "Search and Seizure of "IoT" Crime Scene Identification of IoT eco-systems/networks and what useful data/evidence can be identified, located, and preserved for successful criminal investigations.

NW3C will send staff Steve Debrota to present, "Understanding and Collecting Wearable Fitness Device Evidence: Case Studies and Evidence" This presentation will provide investigative techniques, legal strategies, case studies, and forensic research from Purdue University and the National White-Collar Crime Center concerning how to understand, collect, interpret, and explain wearable fitness device evidence in legal proceedings. This will include medicolegal issues in violent crimes investigations, such as time of death, cause of death, and relevant vital signs.
