Comanche, TX requested a template/matrix to assist them in collecting the correct data metrics to show RVCRI implementation impact. The RVCRI team created an Excel template. The Excel contained three tabs to collect identified violent crime metrics, ALPR usage related to those cases, and forensic software usage by month for the life of the grant. These metrics are broken down by case type and month.

Winnemucca, NV asked the RVCRI team to review their press release regarding the RVCRI award, their use of funds, and the benefits the agency and it's partners have realized as a result of the funding and purchase. The RVCRI team reviewed the press release, provide general edits and comments, and updated the language discussing the grant with previously approved BJA language. Winnemucca will share the link to the press release once it is posted.

Rural Violent Crime Reduction Initiative Solicitation Webinar - November 2022

The RVCRI Solicitation Webinar will provide details and guidance to eligible applicants on the RVCRI Microgrant Program. The RVCRI is a competitive microgrant program, funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, supporting rural law enforcement agencies addressing violent crime challenges. Microgrants can support various aspects of policing including improving investigations, implementing violent crime reduction strategies, and enhancing collaboration between local stakeholders. Awards are competitive in nature and can range from $25,000 - $150,000.

Crawford County is hiring and implementing a CIT officer as the main component of their Rural VCRI award. Chief Garcia of the Espanola Police Department, another Rural VCRI grantee, is a Master Instructor in Crisis Intervention. The Rural VCRI team recommended and connected the two grantees via email to serve as a peer resource. The Rural VCRI team offered to schedule a virtual meeting between the two grantees if they would like.

Hancock County, TN requested sample policies and guidelines for implementing an RMS. They are implementing an RMS for the first time. The Rural VCRI Team provided the Metropolitan Nashville RMS Manual; the BJA NIJ RMS Report; IACP Standard Functional Specifications for Law Enforcement RMS to Hancock County.
