The Rural VCRI Team will host monthly check-in calls with each of the grantees. Currently, there are 11 grantees actively in contact with the Institute. Each call is approximately 30 minutes. Each month we will discuss:

2. RVCRI Implementation Status Updates including SARA Model activities and Violent Crime Metrics Updates
3. Success Stories
4. Areas of Concerns
5. TTA Requests

Comanche, TX requested a review of their ALPR and Facial Recognition Policies. The policies were drafted to state standards and outreach to several other agencies in TX who have approved policies were conducted by Comanche.

The Rural VCRI team reviewed the Comanche ALPR and Facial Recognition Policies using BJA-funded best practice guidelines and sample policies.

The Rural VCRI Team, in coordination with LISC and BJA, participated in and prepared presentations for the May 3, 2022 Rural VCRI Grantee Orientation webinar. The orientation discussed the roles and responsibilities of rural agencies as grantees. It provided an overview of the training and technical assistance offered by the TTA providers (the Institute and LISC) and BJA's role in grant administration.

Training Program on Enhancing Rural Law Enforcement Response to Violence Against Women

In collaboration with the Putnam County, West Virginia Sheriff's Office, the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) will host the two-day IACP Enhancing Rural Law Enforcement Response to Violence Against Women training event on December 10th – 11th 2019. This training event is free to attend. Please register by December 6, 2019.

Law enforcement (all ranks) and dispatch/communications professionals serving rural jurisdictions will be given priority registration.
