CSG Justice Center staff held 90 contacts (via phone and email) with FY18-FY23 Second Chance Act Category 3 grantees in the month of September (9 SCA Co-Occurring, 33 SCA Substance Use Disorders, 20 SCA Crisis Stabilization and Community Reentry, and 21 SCA Pay for Success)
"The Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center and the Center for Health Care Strategies are excited to announce a six-month Medicaid and Corrections Policy Academy on behalf of the Bureau of Justice Assistance, a component of the Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs. The Policy Academy will bring together teams of senior executive agency leaders from four to six states to develop multi-sector collaborative planning to leverage Medicaid for improving reentry outcomes for people in the justice system who have complex needs.

Two-day, in-person mentor professional development training featuring seven training sessions, with topics focusing on the mentor program and its volunteers in veterans treatment courts. All sessions will include a 45-minute to one-hour-long presentation followed by 15 minutes of Q&A.
Q3 quarterly call to discuss program updates. Grantee is finalizing data collection and reporting on their comfort dog program component. The comfort dog program has seen an increase in academic performance in youth. They are also planning a Handle with Care conference for November.
September community of practice call was focused on sustainability.
The Community of Practice for Families and Youth meeting is held every other first Thursday of the month at 2:00pm EST. This is a broad category, and therefore, we are very excited to learn about what types of activities each of you are planning. This is an opportunity for grantees to discuss experiences and challenges, share successes, and shape training and technical assistance opportunities related to the role and responsibilities of project coordinators In May, Met for bi-monthly meeting. A guest presenter discussed harm reduction and parenting.
