NCVC hosted 40 attendees for a webinar focused on trauma-informed prosecutorial strategies in domestic violence (DV) cases. This training, led by the National Center for Victims of Crime.
NCVC hosted 40 attendees for a webinar focused on procedural justice and trauma-informed investigations. Procedural Justice is a strategy used by people in positions of authority to increase legitimacy by focusing on building trust. Trauma-Informed Practices are techniques that help a trauma-survivor feel safe so that they can overcome barriers to resilience. During this interactive and engaging presentation, learners will receive coaching to develop and test their personalized interview plan that they can immediately put to use in the real world to improve safety and outcomes.
The Center will convene a community and practitioner roundtable on June 19, 2018, titled “Community Perceptions of Fairness.” Roundtable participants will review and discuss preliminary results from the two-site study funded under this award in Cleveland, OH and Newark, NJ. The roundtable will be structured in two parts. The morning session will include community members and leaders from local academic, faith-based, and other community-based institutions; the afternoon session will include justice system leaders such as judges, prosecutors, law enforcement, and public defenders.
