During Q2 2022, the transition between the former PREA Coach, Caleb Asbridge and the new PREA Coach, Stephanie Vetter was finalized. Vetter assumed the PREA coaching responsibilities on behalf of Mr. Asbridge at the beginning of Q2. Ms. Vetter met monthly with Patsy Adams, Paul Graham, and Ellen Toney to review and discuss both FY grants, and added meetings to accommodate policy discussions and emerging challenges with facility staffing, as follows: April 8 and 13, May 11, June 8 and 27, 2022. (PREA policy review was completed by Mr. Asbridge and Ms. Vetter during Q1).

DCFS finalized PREA Implementation Plan which was reviewed by coach and discussed before final submission. The plan's sustainability and impact were discussed, as well as the barriers and challenges.

Assisted in NV DCFS obtaining a no-cost extension. Reviewed the PPT for PREA Convening. Provided support and feedback on the PREA Risk Assessment Validation process and the Girls Health Screen expansion to PC.

In this workshop presenters will explain the requirements and differences between the PREA Standards related to victim advocacy, reporting and emotional support services, analyzing the nuances and interplay between these standards. Presenters will also discuss promising ways to build relationships with community-based victim advocacy organizations so that agencies can comply with the PREA standards requirement to make available outside confidential support services. This session will provide participants information to better understand who community-based advocates are and what they do.

Coaching focused on strategies that will impact the timely implementation of the PREA plan, specifically staff engagement/facility leadership were discussed during Q3 meetings.

Coaching discussions centered on upcoming PREA Audit and challenges that are impacting timely implementation of the PREA plan such as staff shortages and facility buy-in.

The coaches continued to provide edits to staff trainings, policies and forms that LACPD developed during this reporting period. The LA Probation PREA team has been fully engaged with the coaches.
The coaches have checked in with the grantee at least once a month via video call and they have communicated via e-mail regarding developed materials for the coaches to review.

During Q3, at the request of the grantee, the coach provided the names of three qualified PREA training vendors to the LA team for review and consideration. LA OJJ contacted each candidate to request a proposal that will address each of the project goals.
Assisted with risk assessment instrument implementation, staffing ratio, staffing plan, and staff recruitment.
