The CACoP hosted a debrief on the IACA conference. Ms. Annie Mitchell, lead subject-matter expert of CACoP, began the session with a recap video of the conference for any of the analysts that were not able to attend. Ms. Michell then asked participants to provide feedback regarding the conference. Attendees enjoyed the hands-on approach of the conference but did hope for more PSP-related presentations. The debrief ended with a discussion on recommended course analysts could take following up on the conference.

Recruitment and Retention of Staff Historically, working as a prosecutor was a highly coveted position. A variety of factors (retirements, salary, workload, and culture) have caused high vacancy rates at many prosecutor offices. But there are solutions. PCoP’s panel of highly experienced practitioners provided ideas that could turn the tide and infuse offices with engaged prosecutors. Grit, Grace, and Resolve Wellness Solutions by Chief Executives This LELCoP event focused on safety and wellness issues and how they affect all law enforcement professionals, regardless of their position, job duties, or tenure. Presenters included Chief Neil Gang, from the City of Pinole, California, Police Department; Dr. Robert Sobo, director of the Chicago, Illinois, Police Department Employee Assistance Program; and Chief Cassandra Deck-Brown (retired) from the City of Raleigh, North Carolina, Police Department.

In September 2022, the Knowledge Lab was invited to present at the Law Enforcement Task Force meeting. The purpose of this meeting was to provide the task force with specific detail on how the Knowledge Lab will work for law enforcement and federal investigative agencies in the D.C. area. The Knowledge Lab project team developed a 30-minute presentation for this group with a facilitated feedback component at the end to gain input from the task force members.

In October 2022, the Knowledge Lab leadership conducted a panel at the 2022 IACP Annual Conference in conjunction with BJA leadership. The purpose of this panel was to raise awareness of the Knowledge Lab and explain the upcoming deliverables and available training and technical assistance the Lab will provide.

In early March 2022, the Knowledge Lab project team and BJA met with representatives from all Department of Justice (DOJ) components to discuss the goals of the Knowledge Lab and the DOJ components' role in the initiative's success. The Knowledge Lab team asked for resources related to various constitutional policing practices to establish a database on the Knowledge Lab’s website to help highlight the work that the DOJ is conducting and enhance the accessibility of these resources to the field.

On April 27 and 28, 2022, the project team held an in-person launch event with various stakeholders. The event was held in Los Angeles, CA and was hosted by the Los Angeles Police Department. Approximately 90 attendees came to the two-day event. The goal of the conference was to hear from various stakeholders in the field on how the Knowledge Lab could and should be used to address the current challenges in the field.

Michigan State University, School of Criminal Justice (MSU) received the 2018 award for Category 1 Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) provider. MSU will work with CNA (Category 2) and NCVC (Category 3) throughout the grant period to provide assistance to the national PSN program, BJA, OLP, EOUSA and any other entity requesting assistance implementing PSN strategies. Efforts initiated or completed during fifth reporting period of the National PSN Category 1 award for MSU are included in this milestone.

"Like so many criminal justice-related programs, the COVID-19 pandemic prevented CenTF training from being conducted in person for nearly two years, including the first three months of this reporting period. In late March 2022, however, the Office of Justice Programs relaxed some travel restrictions which permitted this program to begin efforts to renew in person trainings.

IIR hosted an informational webinar on March 23, 2022 titled “Narcotics Task Force Team 10—A Collaborative Approach to Overdose Deaths in San Diego County.” This webinar was widely promoted and had 180 registrations and 145 attendees. It featured members of the Narcotics Task Force (NTF) Team 10, including those from the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office and members from the Psychiatric Emergency Response Team and the Center for Community Research.
