Technology Standards - NIEM

Develop an advanced federated query capability that will enable multiple local/municipal stakeholders to view data from a variety of data systems. The query will include development of a web portal that will use GFIPM for user authentication and authorization. The portal will be designed to incorporate additional data sources as they become available.

assist MARIS with implementing information exchanges and GFIPM. JANUARY-JUNE 2016 PROGRESS UPDATE: During this reporting period, SEARCH staff continued supporting the MARIS group by editing service specifications to support federated queries for Arrest, Probation/Parole, Warrants and Court Cases.

Assist BJA improve information sharing opportunities in Detroit. JULY-JAN-JUNE 2016 PROGRESS UPDATE: SEARCH continued to participate as requested on Detroit VRN team calls. The Detroit VRN team expressed interest in working with SEARCH on the two projects: 1) DPD could improve information sharing of incident data by participating in N-DEx. 2) Participate in SEARCH's effort with the Michigan State Police to automate the warrant process. Due to the death of the IT POC in February, all activities related to this work have been put on hold.

The goal of this project is to assist Alabama stakeholders with development of services specifications to share information between criminal justice and mental health agencies. Assistance may include capabilities discovery and modeling, GFIPM research, and SSP development.Activities to be achieved include:

White paper on using UML to design and describe the information model of a NIEM conformant information exchange, describing an overall process with focus on class diagrams that align with a business process model & lightly depict the development of sequence or activity diagrams. Second in a series of two: "UML Approach to Modeling NIEM Exchanges - Structural Modeling"

Provide a presentation on the eWarrants project at the Michigan State Police Criminal Justice Information Center conference for law enforcement. The presentation emphasized the role and value of the adoption and use of the Global Information Sharing Toolkit.

To assist the First Responder Network Authority in carrying out its duties and responsibilities as required by Public Law 112-96. The PSAC has been established by FirstNet as a nationwide body to represent all disciplines of public safety as well as state, territorial, tribal, and local governments. SEARCH will Establish a sustainable on-going partnership in support of FirstNet that helps improve public safety broadband capabilities nationwide as well as improve information sharing, reduce response times, increase situational awareness, and save lives.
