Self Protection

A site visit of the BCJI Baton Rouge site was conducted on June 17, 2016 by the LISC TA team. The purpose of the visit was to assess the sites implementation phase/process and provide TTA as needed.

LISC staffer Matt Perkins moderated a session at the National Summit on Preventing Violence in Baltimore on June 27-29, Jason Cooper also attended.

The Madison, WI site visited the Seattle BCJI site to discuss lessons learned thus far, community engagement, and sustainability.

A site visit of the BCJI New Haven, CT site was conducted on June 16, 2016 by the LISC TA team. The purpose of the visit was to assess the sites implementation phase/process and provide TTA as needed.

October 24th: Langley Park traveled to McElderry Park in Baltimore city to partake in a peer to peer site visit to learn about the planning process and data analysis.

LISC awarded the San Francisco Office of the District Attorney (SFDA) a peer-learning grant from to participate in a cross-site visit to the Brownsville Community Justice Center at the Brooklyn BCJI site. SFDA's aim is to learn how the Brownsville Community Justice Center implements their initiatives that engage youth to reimagine public space and reduce violence as well as how they build sustainable partnerships between city agencies and the community.

A site visit of the BCJI Harrisburg, PA site was conducted on June 14, 2016 by the LISC TA team. The purpose of the visit was to assess the sites planning phase/process and provide TTA as needed.

A site visit of the BCJI Meridian site was conducted on June 6, 2016 by the LISC TA team. The purpose of the visit was to assess the sites planning phase/process and provide TTA as needed.

Philadelphia and Baltimore were able to connect for a peer to peer lunch during the Smart Suite Summit on September 9th.

Site partners from Albany, Atlanta, Cleveland, Highland County, Indianapolis and St Louis attended the Smart Suite Fellows Academy in East Lansing in July, 2016.
