Sponsor grantees to attend conference in Birmingham, AL. This year, 2023, the City of Birmingham commemorates sixty years since the Birmingham campaign for civil and human rights. As a part of the commemorative events, The Historic Bethel Baptist Church Community Restoration Fund of Birmingham, Alabama, is pleased to announce its conference on individual and community healing. What happened here in 1963 changed not only the city but inspired similar movements for human and civil rights across the nation and around the world.
The forum serves to acknowledge and celebrate successes, exchange information, identify TTA needs, share resources and examine strategies to support your work as an Emmett Till Cold Case Investigations and Prosecution Program grantees. The monthly forum topics will be driven by you; Your knowledge, professional experience, and voice are vital to these conversations, and will be deeply appreciated by other grantees. As TTA providers, our role will primarily be to guide the process and provide input and resources as needed.
The Hate Crimes TTA team held a kickoff call with the San Jose Police Department (PD). The purpose of the call was to build rapport with site representatives, learn about San Jose PD’s Collaborative Approaches toward Preventing and Addressing Hate-Demonstration Project activities, identify any challenges and emerging issues, and begin to scope out the site’s TTA needs.
BJA requested NCORJ submit a session that introduced participants to the key principles of restorative justice with a particular focus on community-based violence intervention and prevention initiatives for the OJP conference on this topic.

The purpose of the call was to build rapport with site representatives, learn about FCDA’s Shepard/Byrd Preventing Hate Crimes Against the LGBTG+ Community Project activities, identify any challenges and emerging issues, and begin to scope out the site’s TTA needs.

This virtual training was held on 6.24.22 and was aimed at defining Restorative Justice by describing what it is and what it is not. There were approximately 1070attendees and it lasted for 2 hours.
