Throughout the reporting period, Center staff continued to host virtual calls with the sites from the FY22, on an as-needed basis. This included conducting outreach with sites to encourage them to attend a regional convening, responding to their inquiries and keeping them abreast of national developments via the Court-Builders listserv, and providing individual consultations as needed. The Wilmington Community Court has been working to expand their reach by accepting cases from two different overlapping jurisdictions; namely, the Court of Common Pleas and the Justice of the Peace.

The NTCRC has developed a relationship with the newly-formed Council of State Treatment Court Coordinators (CSTCC) in an effort to become more attuned to the needs of the treatment court field at the state and local levels. Collaboration has also included development of a webpage for this agency, hosted by the NTCRC, and progress towards a discussion platform for agency members.

In this conference presentation, an overview of the Stepping Up framework was be provided as a foundation from which communities can develop collaborative approaches to reducing the incarceration of persons with serious mental health and/or substance use needs.

Hallie Fader-Towe joined the Public Safety Partnership's Prosecutor Community of Practice to speak to attendees about behavioral health diversion and the Prosecutor Call to Action. The CSG Justice Center identified and invited 2 site examples to present during the meeting.

On October 11 and 12, Center staff Taylor DeClerck and Shawn Rogers traveled to the 2023 Coordinator/Case Manager conference hosted by the Wisconsin Association of Treatment Court Professionals (WATCP). They delivered two presentations. First one titled "Case Management for Justice Professionals: How to lead from the front line" provided the fundamentals for comprehensive case management, how to become participant-oriented and community based, and assisting with needs outside of substance use treatment.

This reporting period, the Center for Justice Innovation (Center) re-launched the Community Court Mentor Program and released an application for experienced, successful, and innovative community courts to participate in providing guidance and expert assistance to the twelve sites that were selected as FY23 Community Court Initiative (CCI) grantees. The Center received six applications from community courts around the country: Spokane, Orange County, South Dallas, Austin, Boulder, and North Lawndale.

CSG Justice Center staff attended the Fair and Just Prosecution Annual Convening in Tucson and participated in a panel presentation about how prosecutors can holistically address behavioral health needs in the community. CSG Justice Center staff also discussed the Propelling Change: Prosecutor Call to Action project and used hypothetical case study examples to discuss diversion options for people with behavioral health needs.
