This reporting period, the Center for Justice Innovation (Center) re-launched the Community Court Mentor Program and released an application for experienced, successful, and innovative community courts to participate in providing guidance and expert assistance to the twelve sites that were selected as FY23 Community Court Initiative (CCI) grantees. The Center received six applications from community courts around the country: Spokane, Orange County, South Dallas, Austin, Boulder, and North Lawndale. Based on the characteristics of the grantees and their needs, the Center selected Spokane, South Dallas, Austin, and Boulder to provide direct support and site visits to the grantees; and invited Orange County and North Lawndale to act as subject matter experts to the cohort on serving individuals with felonies and restorative justice respectively. This reporting period, the Center contacted the FY23 cohort of CCI sites and created and delivered to each of the sites a kickoff packet with onboarding documents, practitioner guides, and action plan guidance.
