The NRTAC staff visited the Tucson (AZ) Police Department (TPD) local CGIC. NRTAC staff interviewed individual members of the CGIC according to their role in the CGIC workflow. The team interviewed individuals involved in every stage of the CGIC process, including evidence recovery and processing, NIBIN entry, investigation, analysis, prosecution, and performance measure tracking.

The NRTAC team hosted the eighth intelligence analysis roundtable, which included investigators, intelligence analysts, and prosecutors from various CGIC sites. This interactive Zoom roundtable aimed to strengthen the CGIC community of practice. The roundtable centered on implementing GunStat as an accountability mechanism to support the reduction of violent crime and recidivism by identifying repeat gun offenders and leveraging criminal justice stakeholder collaboration to disrupt the cycle of violence.

The NRTAC team provided four onsite training sessions on Firearms Identification and Crime Gun Intelligence Exploitation for the Baltimore (MD) Police Department, with subject matter expert Mark Kraft delivering the content. The training informed attendees about how to identify a firearm for accurate trace results and how crime gun intelligence can be used to investigate and prosecute NIBIN-related cases.

The NRTAC team hosted the ninth investigations roundtable, which included investigators, intelligence analysts, and prosecutors from various CGIC sites. This interactive Zoom roundtable aimed to strengthen the CGIC community of practice. The roundtable centered on the use of NIBIN to support cold case investigations. For this roundtable, the Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Miami, Florida CGICs were invited to speak about how they have successfully used NIBIN to solve cold cases. NRTAC subject matter expert Kevin Armbruster facilitated the engagement.
