The NRTAC hosted the 8th Annual Regional CGIC Multi-Site Training in Miami, Florida. The Miami CGIC assisted in organizing the conference and invited participating CGIC grantees to tour their facilities. The conference was a mix of panel presentations and breakout sessions. Presentation topics included executive buy-in, CGIC successes, the role of the intelligence analyst in a CGIC, and CGIC case prosecution.

The National Policing Institute and the NRTAC team were invited by the ATF to attend the third annual ATF Chiefs of Police Executive Forum on Crime Guns. NRTAC personnel set up an exhibition booth to present the work of the Institute and showcase available CGIC resources to conference attendees. Additionally, Alan Hughes from the NRTAC and Kristie Brackens from the BJA participated in an informational session to inform attendees of BJA’s grant funding opportunities, including BJA’s local CGIC grant.

The NRTAC team provided two onsite training sessions on Firearms Identification and Crime Gun Intelligence Exploitation for law enforcement agencies and prosecutors in Pinal County (AZ), with subject matter expert Mark Kraft delivering the content. The training informed attendees about how to identify a firearm for accurate trace results and how crime gun intelligence can be used to investigate and prosecute NIBIN-related cases.
