On Thursday, July 18, at 2:00pm ET, the Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance’s (BJA’s) Rural Violent Crime Reduction Initiative (RVCRI) is hosting a webinar on crime analysis best practices, lessons learned, and available crime data.

The University of Alabama requested forensic extraction software use in mobile settings policy samples.

Reginald Thomas sent the University of Alabama resources from the NYPD Digital Forensic Access Tool: Impact and Use Policy, the AASHTO Accreditation Policy on Mobile Laboratories, and the Orlando, Florida PD Policy of Computer/Digital Evidence and The Digital Forensic Lab.

The Ashe County, NC Sheriff's Office requested drug detection equipment policy samples.

Reginald Thomas provided Ashe County with several resources, including Orange County, New York Sheriff's Office TruNarc Policy, Grandview Heights, Ohio PD Field Testing Policy, OJP Drug Testing Manual, and a UK Correspondence Policy Framework.

The Ashland, AL Police Department requested assistance from Julie Wartell to assist with implementing the SARA Model and problem-oriented policing (POP). This assistance would include:
1. Scan – identify a crime or quality of life problem as the basis of the project. This would include reviewing 1 year of calls for service and possibly developing a brief
survey for the officers and/or the community.
