Working with Sandstorm marketing firm, we will develop messages designed to resonate with difficult to reach/difficult to engage groups to help promote more diverse and inclusive juries
Juyl-Dec. 2024:Following an open RFP process we contracted with Sandstorm to create a message and conduct related market testing. That messaging and testing is complete, and we are currently working with them to develop the final images and materials that will be a part of a messaging toolkit.

January - June 2023: Networked training directors and office heads of county and state defender offices in the U.S. mountain states to plan a week long trial skills training program to be held in Salt Lake City in April 2024. Application is pending for BJA approval, only one group meeting held thus far; otherwise have spoken with various agency heads. January - June 2023: Application approved to assist newly appointed Mississippi Training Director with organizing bi-annual public defense training conference and speaking at training. Meetings every 2-3 weeks from beginning planning to published agenda (so about a month off). 2023 conference dates are April 27-29 and October 26-28. Will be travelling to the fall conference in Jackson MS to speak.

July -December 2022: TTA will include:
o Implementing training and corresponding resources related to challenging prior convictions as a basis for impeachment.
o Connecting WSOPD with Professors Anna Roberts and Julia Simon-Kerr who have written extensively on the limitations of the use of prior convictions as a basis for challenging witness credibility.
Report is largely complete and currently meeting to design training for Washington state's criminal legal system stakeholders.

July-December 2022: provided funding travel for Chris Fabricant, a nationally recognized speaker with subject matter expertise, to present on issues relating to forensic science. Mr. Fabricant is the Director of Strategic Litigation for the Innocence Project and is based in New York.

JFA Team, Center for Court Innovation and the TTA Client will collectively examine ways to provide police station representation. As a part pf this work, CCI will lead efforts in creating 1) remote learning sessions, 2) on-site needs and readiness assessment, 3) follow-up site visits 4) program and research design/technical assistance.
July 2022- December 2022: BJA approved application for TTA.

In-depth TTA. Working with the Victim-Witness Outreach Office of the County Attorney’s Office, this project will focus on identifying barriers for low-income victims and witnesses, especially those in more rural parts of the county to participate in the court system. This will include examining gaps in resources and language related barriers for the region’s refugee population and helping to develop tools and resources to improve access. This project is being led by APA and just launched in January 2023.
