This training provides investigative techniques, legal strategies, case studies, and forensic research from Purdue University and the National White-Collar Crime Center concerning how to understand, collect, interpret, and explain wearable fitness device evidence in legal proceedings. This includes medicolegal issues in violent crimes investigations, such as time of death, cause of death, and relevant vital signs.

The team discussed the third-party reporting issue that recently arose. The PC reported a solution was identified with the ombudsman. Coach provided a PRC Standards in Focus document.
All grant goals are complete. The team discussed finalizing grant documents in JustGrants. The grantee will send a copy and TMG will complete close-out documents. No further meetings scheduled.

There have been no significant changes for the past several months. There are approximately 50 cameras left to install. On-the-job training to operate the new cameras is on-going.

During this reporting period, four PREA investigators completed specialized training. The team reviewed two PREA investigations and provided feedback on the content, supporting evidentiary documents, interviews, and the investigator's summary. The team discussed PREA Standards 115.331, 115.363, and 115.367.

The PREA policies have been updated and approved. PREA posters are in all facilities and housing units. The PREA hotlines (reporting and support services) have been set up. The agency will purchase opposite gender announcement decals.

The PC will compile PREA data and provide the sheriff with a 2023 PREA report for publication on the website. Coaches will provide examples of PREA reports from other agencies.

On April 24, 2024, Center staff hosted a virtual meeting for the JS-BIT Advisory Board. In attendance were various criminal justice practitioners from the field. Prior to this meeting, the Board members were asked to take the JS-BIT test in order to provide feedback on things to change. In this meeting, the Board provided feedback that resulted in the following changes: one of the association terms were changed (remand terminology changed to convicted), the IAT content was split for ease of reading, and accessibility issues were identified.
