This 3 day program will provide trial skills to institutional defenders and assigned counsel in Pennsylvania, with a focus on defenders in Philadelphia and the surrounding county of Montgomery. Emphasis will be placed on forensic issues that arise in sexual assault cases and will include lectures as well as small group/hands-on work.

In October 2015, CSG Justice Center staff submitted a memorandum documenting the progress Pennsylvania made through JR implementation and technical assistance. With the submission of the memorandum, intensive technical assistance to support the implementation of Pennsylvania's 2012 justice reinvestment legislation has concluded. Pennsylvania continues to hold a contract with the CSG Justice Center to expend its BJA subaward grant.

In October 2015, CSG Justice Center staff submitted a memorandum documenting the progress Pennsylvania made through JR implementation and technical assistance. With the submission of the memorandum, intensive technical assistance to support the implementation of Pennsylvania's 2012 justice reinvestment legislation has concluded. Pennsylvania continues to hold a contract with the CSG Justice Center to expend its BJA subaward grant. CSG Justice Center staff continue to monitor the grant.

In October, CSG Justice Center staff submitted a memorandum to justice reinvestment Phase II funders documenting the progress Pennsylvania made through justice reinvestment implementation and technical assistance. With the submission of the memorandum, intensive technical assistance to support the implementation of Pennsylvania's 2012 justice reinvestment legislation has concluded. State leaders received this month a letter from BJA acknowledging the state's achievements and conclusion of Phase II TA.

In August, CSG Justice Center staff continued to work with the Penn State Data Center and Pennsylvania Department of Corrections (PDOC) and Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole (PBPP) researchers on the publicly available “data dashboard.” CSG Justice Center staff have provided input regarding performance measures and data visualization as part of the project. The dashboard is supported through Phase II BJA subaward funds.

Once completed, the JRI Data Dashboard will visualize key trends related to the impacts of justice reinvestment to date, and progress toward the state’s justice reinvestment goals. The JRI Data Dashboard is funded through Phase II capacity-building funds.
