As a condition of funding, the NDCRC will conduct the Painting the Current Picture survey every two years on behalf of the Bureau of Justice Assistance. Data collection for the next round of this survey began in February 2023, requesting data for calendar year 2022. Surveys were developed for thirteen different court types, and a different survey was constructed based on whether the recipient state had a data Management Information System (MIS). A total of twenty-six surveys were developed, and the NDCRC has provided a guide for completing each individual survey.
