The Toledo, Ohio Police Department, as part of the Toledo National Public Safety Partnership (PSP) site, requested travel support for representatives to attend the Foundations of Intelligence Analysis Training Program. BJA NTTAC provided travel support to one representatives from Toledo PSP site to attend the training from December 3 - 7, 2018 in Oxnard, California.
Marion County Texas requested information on training for the use of Naloxone and how to acquire Naloxone kits. BJA NTTAC provided the requestor with resources on acquiring Naloxone and training information for its local departments.
The Western Pennsylvania Fusion Center requested assistance with general training needs. BJA NTTAC provided a referral to the Kentucky Fusion Center (Kentucky Office of Homeland Security) to provide training resources and peer mentorship opportunities.
The Phoenix, Arizona Police Department is requesting assistance to develop and implement a community engagement strategy. Nola Joyce was selected to fulfill the request and provide community engagement strategies to The Phoenix, Arizona Police Department in Phoenix, AZ on March 18-21, 2019.
NTAG Rocky Mountain reached out to BJA NTTAC for assistance in gaining access to the SLATT website resources. BJA NTTAC referred this inquiry to SLATT initiative staff at the Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR) on 8/8/2018.
BJA requested travel support for representatives to attend the NCJA National Forum on Criminal Justice. BJA NTTAC provided travel support 11 representatives from various agencies to attend the NCJA National Forum on Criminal Justice in Fort Worth, TX on July 22 - 25, 2018.
BJA NTTAC contacted BJA Policy Advisor Julius Dupree for more information about forthcoming training opportunities. Mr. Dupree provided NTTAC with the contact information for Nan Benally, the Program Manager for the BJA Tribal Community Corrections initiative. Ms. Benally's information was then shared with the requestor.
We believe it is critical for us to have the Police Department's procedures and policies reviewed by an outside entity who can make recommendations on training to our officers to either prevent or deescalate Use of Force situations.
The Marion County, Indiana Prosecutor's Office requested the support of a subject matter expert (SME) to facilitate and generate a final report for the Midwest Prosecutor's Peer-to-Peer Violence Reduction Strategies Summit to be held on June 18-19, 2018 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Natalie Hipple of the Department of Criminal Justice at Indiana University was selected to fulfill the request. Summit participants included prosecutorial and law enforcement representatives from six major city jurisdictions in the United States Midwest region.
The Little Rock, Arkansas Public Safety Partnership (PSP) site requested Blue Courage training materials for a training delivered to school resource officers (SROs). Blue Courage Inc. was selected as the provider for this engagement and BJA NTTAC is coordianted the materials purchase for the training, which is took place in March 2018 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
