Shorewood PD in collaboration with the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Wisconsin is looking for training in officer/citizen encounters to cover aspects like current research about the threats to officer safety, keys to officer safety performance, communication, keeping contacts lawful, emotional intelligence, and adaptive decision making.

The statistics for Alabama are dire, especially as it relates to the Black/Brown community. “In Alabama, Black people constituted 28% of State residents, but 43% of people in jail, and 54% of people in prison” -. Selma is 86% Black and one of the poorest areas in the state. Of the 171 inmates, 151 are Black males, and 93 of the 171 are serving their first incarceration sentence.

The department would like to offer a one-day workshop for all sworn personnel that covers five critical areas of a holistic approach towards physical and mental wellness that includes physical conditioning, nutrition, sleep science, resilience, and mental performance training. The program would be provided by a well-established and verified federal vendor, with professional expertise in performance training and education.

Based on changes in organizational structure, the ongoing changes in the hiring process, and the altered workforce structure, we would like to take a proactive step and provide our employees with leadership training before they obtain any official leadership position to not only strengthen the individual employee for present needs, but the future as well. This will serve to benefit both the employee, and the organization as a whole.
