Based on changes in organizational structure, the ongoing changes in the hiring process, and the altered workforce structure, we would like to take a proactive step and provide our employees with leadership training before they obtain any official leadership position to not only strengthen the individual employee for present needs, but the future as well. This will serve to benefit both the employee, and the organization as a whole. The Tipton County Sheriff’s Office has located a class aimed at providing leadership training to those who don’t yet have positions of leadership within the Office, and is requesting assistance with funding of the training.
Similar to other law enforcement agencies, the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office has experienced a increase in job opening, but a decrease in available candidates. This combined with ongoing internal promotions and openings in the chain of command has resulted in not only a greater strain and emphasis on the hiring process, but that of the general training and maturation process of patrolman once they are hired. As a result of some of theses staffing needs, the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office has found itself in the unfamiliar position of having somewhat inexperienced first line supervisors and senior patrolmen. Based on this change in organizational structure, the ongoing changes in the hiring process, and the altered workforce structure, we would like to take a proactive step and provide our employees with leadership training before they obtain any official leadership position to not only strengthen the individual employee for present needs, but the future as well. This will serve to benefit both the employee, and the organization as a whole.
