During this webinar, the contractors and CSG?Justice Center staff person reviewed?content on jurisdictions managing high utilizer projects, such as facilitating information sharing across partner agencies and the continuum. The contractors reviewed 1)?legal restrictions on sharing information, 2)?approaches that overcome information sharing obstacles (legal/cultural), 3)?sensitivities beyond legal restrictions and strategies to overcome them, 4)?success stories (case studies) and lessons learned and 5) sample agreements templates from case studies.
The Status of Gender and Trauma Informed Practices in Your System
The Judicial Council of California asked CSG Justice Center staff to provide comments as part of the February 10th, 2020, meeting of the Pretrial Reform and Operations Workgroup (PROW), a 12 member judicial panel appointed by Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye. CSG Justice Center staff appeared by video to provide comments on pretrial risk assessment and best pretrial practices for handling cases involving people with mental illnesses.
The Mental Health and Justice Advisory Committee (MHJAC) meeting included a welcome and introduction by Chairman Bill Ward, general updates for OCJSI, OMHSAS , MHJAC Legislation Subcommittee, Bureau of Supports for Autism and Special Populations , and Stepping Up Technical Assistance Center and Stepping Up Strategic Planning from the Council of State Governments. The Justice Center staff prepared a presentation and delivered it at the meeting.
CSG Justice Center staff conducted a briefing for Governor's Office Secretary of Policy and Planning Meg Snead, which included introductions and project background, a discussion regarding Stepping Up in Pennsylvania, the Statewide initiative and Technical Assistance Center, the Strategic planning and state policy audit project. As a next step, the Secretary invited the Justice Center staff to present this information to the Governor's Office meeting with state policy directors.
The Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center--a national nonpartisan nonprofit representing state officials in all three branches of government that works at federal, state, and local levels to advance policy and practice--is working in Pennsylvania to reduce incarceration for people with serious mental illnesses in county prisons.
