University of Delaware (the Delaware Disability Awareness Task Force) requested NCCJD input re: developing survey to determine # of people with disabilities who are victimized in their state. Staff provided feedback and resources via an over one conference call.

NCCJD participates in on-going work group meetings as part of National Advisory Board, or the NAB. The project, "Partnering with People with Intellectual Disabilities to Address Interpersonal Violence" is creating a curriculum for people with I/DD along with research to document effectiveness of prevention-related education.

NCCJD will be participating in a Vera Institute of Justice Roundtable August 5-6, 2014 in Columbus, Ohio. Vera’s Center on Victimization and Safety is working in partnership with the Ms. Foundation to create a blueprint for a national strategy to end sexual abuse of children with disabilities and Deaf children. NCCJD staff is providing expertise for this national project as materials are developed.

NCCJD staff presented at the statewide conference on the following learning objectives:
Learn about NCCJD and its role in supporting victims with I/DD
Understand types of violence, risk factors and signs of violence (with focus on sexual violence)
Become familiar with issues specific to people with I/DD who experience sexual violence
Know the resources, don’t go it alone!

MECP and The Arc's National Center on Criminal Justice and Disability (NCCJD) partnered for MECP's July 2014 webinar. NCCJD's Program Manager, Leigh Ann Davis, was the guest presenter. This webinar provides an overview of the common types of violence, risk factors for violence and signs of possible victimization among children with disabilities. The presenter provides examples on how to improve responses to effectively serve child victims with disabilities.

Representatives from the Center for Court Innovation, Fox Valley Technical College, Tribal Law & Policy Institute, and others came together at the 14th Indian Nations Justice Conference to discuss coordination of TTA activities and discuss future initiatives.
