The Survivor Empowerment Center (SEC) based in Southern Illinois has requested training for their staff and coaching sessions for their Rape Crisis Services Program Coordinator, Jennifer Short. More specifically, JDI will provide two training sessions for SEC staff and volunteers. The first session will be an overview of the criminal justice system, the PREA standards, and the role of advocates. The second session will include specific guidance for serving incarcerated survivors. Coaching sessions will focus on building relationships with corrections agencies and advising Ms.

The Colorado Division of Human Services Division of Youth Services (DYS) operates 15 secure youth detention centers across the state. DYS has requested technical assistance to review and revise the agency?s policies and practices related to the objective risk screening and placement decisions of youth. JDI will review the DYS screening and placement policies, making recommendations, as needed.

The Fidelity Assessment Instrument was developed in order to operationalize the standards set forth in the Promising Practices Guidelines (PPGs). The instrument is divided into the same section sections and components as contained in the PPGs. The instrument scores how programs meet each component as set forth in the PPGs. The outcome of the FAI process is a report that scores how programs align with the PPGs and provides individualized recommendations for further training and technical assistance where gaps or shortcomings are identified.

In-person presentation on November 4 at the Minnesota CSAC meeting in Shakopee, MN

A presentation was provided to the Community Supervision Advisory Committee (CSAC) to introduce and explain key recommendations developed by the Risk and Needs Assessment (RNA) Working Group and the Justice Reinvestment Initiative (JRI) Phase II Working Group. The presentation included a review of the risk-need-responsivity (RNR) principles, risk and needs assessment recommendations, case planning recommendations, and behavior response grid recommendations.
