In April 2024, TTA program staff provided a compilation of resources, curated in response to a request from the Maryland OAG (a FY2021 Collaborative Approaches site) during a project check-in call, pertaining to establishing an advisory board, including literature, handbooks, and other pertinent materials.

In response to an inquiry by the Mayland OAG, TTA program staff provided the site a compilation of state statutes regarding the definition of a hate crime that were identified from reviewing relevant legal and policy materials from DOJ, the COPS Office, various state codes and attorneys general offices, and national associations.

APA's Capital Litigation Advisory Committee will meet in May 2025 for 1.5 to identify discuss programming and training needs for the field. Outputs will include a training curriculum for the next year as well as a peer-to-peer exchange between members. Jurisdictions will highlight the issues that they are facing respectively, and discuss in roundtable format ways to troubleshoot those issues.

In partnership with the North Carolina Conference of District Attorneys. This three-day multidisciplinary course will provide the knowledge and skills necessary for prosecutors to make charging decisions and prosecute homicide cases. Additionally, this course will provide practical exercises in the investigation and prosecution of a homicide and teamwork tips for investigators and victim advocates.

A crime victim’s rights do not end upon conviction. Often, victims and their families need assistance in establishing and recovering restitution for economic losses. The goal of restitution is to help make victims whole for their economic losses. This presentation will provide general details on identifying what constitutes economic loss subject to restitution. Additionally, it will offer pointers on how to utilize collection tools available in the criminal justice system to recover restitution.

The conference program provides training for all government attorneys involved in prosecuting capital cases: including trial, appellate, post-conviction, and habeas prosecutors. We will try to have something for beginning prosecutors to seasoned veterans. The details of the program are inside the brochure. This is a nationwide annual conference.

APA will assist the East Baton Rouge District Attorney's Office as well as the Louisiana District Attorneys' Association with a two-day complex homicide-centered voir dire training for local prosecutors. In particular, APA will assist with travel/lodging at the federal rate for one or several speakers, set aside a certain amount of scholarship money for students who are otherwise unable to afford travel and lodging to attend (again, at the federal rate), potentially assist with registration infrastructure, and provide run-of-show assistance with the event.
