This webinar is a rebroadcast of an earlier recorded webinar. This training will provide prosecutors with the tools necessary to properly anticipate and handle speedy trial challenges for capital-eligible cases pending during the COVID-19 pandemic. The webinar will provide ample time for attendees to ask the presenter questions about their specific concerns and situations. The two-person panel will include a speaker from a jurisdiction governed by the Speedy Trial Act, and one from a jurisdiction that is not, to provide a more complete perspective for attendees.

Kelly Stoner drafted and revised a mini-report for NCAI on VAWA Special Domestic Violence Criminal Jurisdiction. The topic is Victim Rights and Safety. Chia Halpern assisted with editing and ensuring footnotes were correct for three mini-reports: Victim Rights and Safety, Judicial Qualifications and Jury Composition.

The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe is requesting TLPI to provide training on the drafting and recognition of civil protection orders. The tribe is drafting/revising its code regarding civil protection orders and would like TLPI to review the code once it is complete.

Kelly Stoner provided a virtual onsite training for Native Alliance Against Violence (NAAV) the Oklahoma Tribal Domestic Violence advocate coalition. The virtual training was provided to discuss drafting enforceable tribal civil protection orders and tribal criminal no contact (protection orders) to meet the needs of and better protect victims whether in tribal civil or criminal courts. Kelly provided instruction and tips for drafting subject matter jurisdiction clauses as well as tailoring remedies to meet victim needs.

NDCRC will host a webinar with BJA Policy Advisor Gregory Torain and Tracy Lee-Williams to provide detailed instruction on and tips for applying to the BJA FY 21 Adult Drug Court and Veterans Treatment Court Discretionary Grant Program The session will incorporate an interactive question and answer session; it will also be recorded and available for viewing after initial broadcasting.

IIR hosted a Prosecutors Roundtable on November 19, 2020, which included presentations from PSP sites Amarillo, Anniston/Oxford, and Cleveland, as well as alumni site Detroit, Michigan, as an opportunity to engage with the PCoP in planning for future virtual TTA. Roundtable discussion and presentation topics included paperless case management, crime strategies units, officer-involved shooting investigations, and strategies for leveraging technology.
