A recent peer exchange between the Vallejo and Aurora Police Departments highlighted the effectiveness of community-based violence reduction programs. The focus of the exchange was the Aurora Stand Against Violence Everyday (SAVE) program. This grant-funded program leverages community partners as much as possible, working through confrontation and offering a concrete letter of support to those in the community most likely to commit violent crimes, specifically focusing on people between the ages of 18 and 25.

On December 17, 2024, a webinar was hosted to introduce the new Kevin and Avonte site-based grantees to key grant stakeholders, including representatives from BJA and the TTA team. The webinar served to orient grantees to their roles and responsibilities, provide an overview of the grant program, and introduce the TTA team’s resources and support services. This session laid the foundation for effective collaboration and ensured grantees were well-equipped to implement their programs. Further details about the webinar and its content are available upon request.
