In order to engage project advisory, ATJRC convened (1) quarterly meetings with Advisory Team on October 13, 2021 to request feedback on the ATJRC website: www.atjrc.org, ask for any upcoming events or trainings to post, request newsletter articles, and draft highlights to include in planned newsletter for ATJRC. There were (8) Advisory Members in Attendance and (3) Staff. The meeting was held virtually from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm.

ATJRC received multiple requests from grantees needing assistance with on-boarding onto the new JUST GRANTS and obtaining (4) no-cost-extensions since many grantees due were not able to implement project goals or expense funds in accordance with their original plans. We delivered one-on-one TA to: Akiak Native Community, Native Village of Barrow, Kwigillingok, and Qagan Tayagungin Tribe of Sand Point.

Designed and delivered (1) Circle Keeper Training to (12) Alaska Grantees facilitated and held by: The Alaska Tribal Justice Resource Center in Collaboration with The Resource Basket. The instructor was: Circle Alaska Consulting, Curt Shuey, circlealaska@gmail.com. The training description: An in-depth exploration for village councils, community leaders and other interested community members, to strengthen the use of traditional values in the affairs of the community.

To deliver and evaluate Training deliverables we designed and delivered (4) Peer-to-Peer Talking Circles, in collaboration with The Resource Basket, during this reporting period on: July 8, 2021- Topic - Strengths and Successes; September 2, 2021 – Topic – Recovery, events and experiences were shared and experiences including activities being held; October 14, 2021 – Topic - Indigenous Peacemaking (Circle Keeping), and December 9, 2021- Successes and Challenges of FY 2021. Participants were Alaska Grantees for Purpose Areas 3, 8 and 9.

This webinar is a case study of the Urbanski trial--a racially-motivated killing of University of Maryland senior Richard Collins III, who was Black, in 2017. The lead prosecutor of this case will provide insights into how the case proceeded and the obstacles that were encountered in trying to prosecute this homicide as a hate crime. Attendees will be allotted time at the end of the presentation for questions. Scheduling of this webinar will depend on presenter(s) schedules.
