During this quarterly call with the Innovator Counties, Marion County, Indiana provided a virtual tour of its Assessment and Intervention Center and gave an overview of its mental illness screening form for patrol officers to use to quickly identify signs of serious mental illness. Counties also engaged in a discussion about their data challenges and successes, and counties discussed how to measure the impact of interventions that are designed to address behavioral health in the justice system. A total of 22 Innovator Counties were represented on this call.

This quarterly call with the Innovator Counties provided the counties an update on Set, Measure, Achieve (SMA), including technical assistance opportunities available to support counties in their SMA efforts; Innovator Counties also voiced their top 3 concerns or priorities related to behavioral health in the justice system for the new presidential administration; and Innovator Counties also gave updates on their Stepping Up work. A total of 18 Innovator Counties were represented on this call.

After a direct referral from the PMO, the PRC engaged in one remediation case. The case involves an auditor who needs additional support in complying with requirements from the PREA Auditor Handbook regarding the timeliness of final audit reports and other auditor obligations. The remediation plan included education components and monthly engagement with the PRC to encourage timely submission of audit reports and post-audit reporting information. The remediation plan is ongoing and will conclude in January 2022.
