During this reporting period, TTA Program staff collaborated with PSP and the SLATT Program on the development of a tri-branded resource, A Toolkit for Law Enforcement on Protests and First Amendment Issues. The product was disseminated to all project sites and posted on the Hate Crimes TTA Program Website.

Objective 2: Technology Development Technical Assistance

12/9/24: In-person meeting with Linde Hoffman (State Engagement Manager, Recidiviz), Sophie Pepin (Senior Data Analyst, Recidiviz), and Jonathan "Scott" Brinly (Parole Officer, TDCJ) to discuss their use of supervision level downgrade, early discharge and annual reporting to better structure Recidiviz's tool. (3 participants, representing 2 agencies)

Deschutes County Community Justice requests assistance in evaluating the progress of their program through different means, such as data, and creating a practice-based evidence model. The county is interested in identifying key performance measures for staff and justice-involved women and learning how to communicate about their data with stakeholders.

Leaders with the MPS desire to implement changes to both the standard and special conditions. The goals are to create consistency among the courts, shorten the language in the conditions and make them fewer in number, and draft the language in positive terms to encourage an alliance with the probation officer and individuals experiencing community supervision.

ICAOS is exploring the potential of utilizing a violation matrix to determine whether a supervised individual should be retaken. By developing this matrix, ICAOS aims to address inconsistencies, improve decision-making, enhance accountability, manage risks effectively, and support training and development in the compact’s retaking process. This approach would ensure a fair, transparent, and evidence-based method for managing violations, ultimately leading to better outcomes for supervised individuals and member states.

Fargo, North Dakota contacted CHJ looking for resources on grant funding and collaborating with their local county jail administrator and states attorney on working on some deflection and reentry work. Calls were held 9/12 and 10/15 with representatives from the Fargo public health department and the Cass County State's Attorney's office.
