Direct Assistance

The Community Based Learning Collaborative focuses on substance use treatment, recovery support, and harm reduction strategies in community-based settings. Designed for grantees working to implement or enhance services, it highlights best practices for providing care, fostering community partnerships, and ensuring long-term recovery support. Participants will gain insights into evidence-based approaches to improving outcomes for individuals impacted by substance use disorders outside of institutional settings.

Tremonton-Garland noted that they are seeing an increase in school shooting or attack threats, particularly around school breaks or long weekends. They believe it’s kids playing pranks to try to have longer breaks. They also note a complacency in school staff around safety, such as students consistently having knives on them, rifles in their vehicles, and doors unlocked and accessible. The Chief believes its mainly due to the “it can’t happen here” mentality and the prevalence of farming families in the area.

February 4, 2025: met to discuss updates and needs. They have been working with Alaska / Jess to get the evaluation underway, sending out surveys to initiate data collection and beginning data tracking and organization. Cristina will coordinate with Allison to set up a meeting at the OFR National Forum. Additionally, we requested if they can share the finalized evaluation with us. They will seek permission before sharing it with me. In other updates, they have just completed running interview protocols and established a few for ACH to use.

January, 28 2025: Met with Jess to discuss progress of dataset, and work generally. She will be applying for new grant by the end of this month.

1/14/2025: emailed goals workplan to Brian

On 1/10/25, provided written feedback to Brian and team on the entire plan.

On 1/7/25, held meeting. Brian asked for me to review their entire strategic plan and will be reaching out later to ask for assistance applying to the TA grant.
