The current opioid epidemic has devastated families and communities and shattered lives. While the human toll of the opioid crisis is well established, its adverse effects on the goals of human services programs such as family stability, child well-being, and self-sufficiency are less well understood. Human services programs provide essential services to families and individuals who are struggling with opioid and other substance use disorders.

The O’Neill Institute is partnering with Business for Impact at the McDonough School of Business to host this event.

Whether you are looking at using evidence-based information sharing to support policy formation or refinement, building efficiencies into criminal justice within your jurisdiction, creating avenues to promote public safety, or looking for best practices, the 2019 National Association for Justice Information Systems (NAJIS) Annual Conference will have something of interest to all disciplines within the criminal justice community.

Who Should Attend

The Forensic Technology Center of Excellence (FTCoE) will assist the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) in hosting the National Opioid and Emerging Drug Threats Policy and Practice Forum on July 18 – 19, 2019 in Washington, D.C. The forum will take place at the Marriott Metro Center.

Sponsored by the National Criminal Justice Association (NCJA) and the International Community Corrections Association (ICCA), the 2019 Forum on Criminal Justice will showcase programs, research, and policies that will help justice practitioners, researchers, and decisionmakers address pressing public safety issues.

The session provided VTC teams with both the history and practical applications of the Veterans Justice Outreach specialists within the team.
