The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department (PD) requested two Blue Courage: The Heart and Mind of the Guardian trainings and one Blue Courage Academy. Blue Courage, Inc. was selected to fulfill the request and provided the two two-day trainings on April 12 - 13, 2017 and May 4 - 5, 2017, to 62 law enforcement personnel, and the four-day academy on June 6 - 9, 2017 to 20 law enforcement personnel in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Chesterfield County/City of Colonial Heights Community Corrections Services requested technical assistance for mapping the residences of clients receiving public assistance and/or mental health services from the local government to ultimately improve efficiency in the delivery of such services. Stewart Bruce was selected to fulfill this request and provided onsite evaluation services of existing resources, met with agency personnel and other community stakeholders, and developed a comprehensive final report with recommendations for the initiative. The Pine County, Minnesota Probation Department requested information on best practices for reducing truancy rates among tribal members enrolled in county schools. BJA NTTAC referred the requestor to the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), National Training and Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC).

The Kansas City Missouri Police Departments Regional Training Academy had the opportunity to bring in the Blue Courage course for a select few of our members. All who attended found great value in the course and the messages that are given. Due to current fiscal constraints, we are not able to fund this training on a recurring basis during the current or coming fiscal year.

Chesterfield County/City of Colonial Heights Community Corrections Services and its county partners are requesting technical assistance for a community mapping project. The purpose of the project is to develop maps which show where clients of specific county agencies reside, and specifically those clients who receive services from multiple county agencies (i.e.: on community corrections services and receiving public assistance and mental health services).

The Middle Atlantic States Correctional Association (MASCA) draws our membership from correctional professionals in all fields of institutional and community corrections as well as juvenile justice agencies in the states listed above. MASCA holds an annual training conference to provide speakers and workshops on a variety of topics of interest to our membership. This year the annual conference will be held in Ocean City, MD, from June 12 to 15, 2016. We are requesting a speaker or panel to discuss issues related to human trafficking.

As an agency, we are committed to community policing principles and maintaining strong relationships with our citizens. This training will enhance our officers social interaction and communication skills and increase the safety of citizens and officers alike through proven trust-building techniques.
