Ripening States and Projects
Monthly Updates:
In October, the CSG Justice Center remained focused on general ripening activities related to planning for follow-up engagements that will build on connections made at the National Summit to Advance States' Criminal Justice Priorities in December 2023. The CSG Justice Center staff worked to compile a list of priority states and build out a stakeholder engagement list for future follow-up through the reminder of the year and into 2025.
West Virginia

West Virginia:In October, CSG Justice Center staff planned a site visit to Charleston for November 10-13 to meet with key stakeholders, including the speaker of the house, senate president, and chief counsel to the governor, to discuss and finalize the executive order to form a JRI working group. Emails were sent to these stakeholders to request meetings during the November site visit and we are awaiting a response.

CSG team met with staff from BJA, Arnold Ventures, and Crime Justice Institute; To (1) discuss state outreach following the National Summit and coordinate next steps; (2) define the JRI Assessment Center's areas of focus and criteria for approval; and (3) discuss any remaining issues related to JRI ripening

CSG Justice Center staff along with NC DAC staff discuss trends and policy changes related to 2011 JRI policies. In addition, 11 focus groups were conducted under the project's qualitative analysis with NC DAC staff and individuals on community supervision. (5 participants, 1 agency)

CSG Justice Center staff along with NC DAC staff discuss trends and policy changes related to 2011 JRI policies. In addition, CSG staff convened 11 focus groups with 76 participants representing one agency to discuss the qualitative analysis piece of the project along with working on getting access to the data for the quantitative analysis. Combining the qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis together to identify trends related to the 2011 JRA policies.
