The Ashland, AL Police Department requested assistance from Julie Wartell to assist with implementing the SARA Model and problem-oriented policing (POP). This assistance would include:
1. Scan – identify a crime or quality of life problem as the basis of the project. This would include reviewing 1 year of calls for service and possibly developing a brief
survey for the officers and/or the community.

Ashland, AL requested assistance with planning, facilitating, and evaluating a community roundtable and officer training providing an overview of POP and soliciting feedback and buy-in from both officers and the community. As a part of this TTA, the Institute developed a Community Feedback survey for Ashland. This survey is currently being distributed through social media, the local newspaper, and via citizen contact.

Ashland, Alabama requested information about Problem--Oriented Policing (POP). The Rural VCRI provided Ashland Police Department with 5 resources about Problem-Oriented Policing to help department develop methods on implementation. The resources included two articles from Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office and The National Policing Institute and also includes links from:
